Lois Hole Hospital for Women – Reproductive Mental Health

Saturday, September 17th marked the 6th annual Harvest Celebration in Edmonton. Once again it was great success, raising over $330,000 in support if the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. Lindisfarne Productions was honoured to be asked to produce the video for this important event.

This year’s case for support was the Reproductive Mental Health clinic and revolutionary research being led by Dr. Dawn Kingston. The IMPACT study is a worldwide first, focusing on perinatal mental health. The study includes online prenatal screening and, cognitive behavioural therapy for treating depression and anxiety women who are pregnant, trying to conceive, and new mothers.

“Emotional health problems are the most common complications that women experience in the prenatal and postnatal period.” Many women who experience depression and anxiety during the prenatal period are more likely to experience emotional health problems in pregnancy, as well as things like post-partum depression or the “baby blues.” Regular screening for pregnant women means that they will have the opportunity to receive the help they may not even know they need, and improve both their own mental health and the health and development of their baby.

With the help of this year’s generous donors the Lois Hole Hospital for Women aims to make prenatal screening not only standard practice in Edmonton hospitals, but in hospitals around the world.  Our video production team was proud to be part of such a worthy cause!
