PPCLI “A Century Of Service” – Commemoration Video

Following the Edmonton and Ottawa Commemorations in 2014, the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry hired our Lindisfarne video production team to travel with them to Belgium and France in the spring of 2015 to capture live event video for the Frezenberg Commemoration.

Sheena, Sergio and David toured the areas of Ypres, Somme, Vimy, Canal du Nord and Mons capturing various events for the Regiment. Events included the re-dedication of a refurbished memorial to the Battle of Frezenberg, conducting a Freedom of the City Parade in Ypres, and a service at Menin Gate in Belgium.

The main event, the Frezenberg Service, was held on May 8, 2015- one hundred years to the day of the Battle of Frezenberg, known as the “Death of the Originals”. The Originals were the soldiers who first signed up when the regiment was raised.

“The Frezenberg Commemoration marks the final chapter in the PPCLI centennial celebrations, renewing allied relationships forged in the First World War. The refurbished memorial pays tribute to the service and sacrifice of the PPCLI Originals who held firm at Bellewaerde Ridge on 8 May 1915 and counted not the cost. Current soldiers of the Regiment are privileged to retrace the symbolic steps of our forefathers as we embark on another hundred years of service to Canada.”
Lieutenant-Colonel Bob Ritchie, Commanding Officer, 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry
