The Lindisfarne team took a trip out to Strathcona County to create a documentary-style video about the Strathcona Wilderness Centre.

The Strathcona Wilderness Centre is located just east of Edmonton in the Beaver Hills Biosphere. A popular year-round destination, he Wilderness Centre features forested hiking and cross-country skiing trails, snowshowing, picnic sites, camping, disc golf, and a stunning lodge for group events and retreats.
We spoke with Doug Marvin, former Assistant Director of Recreation in Strathcona County, who played an integral part in the development of the Wilderness Centre. Doug’s lasting enthusiasm for the area and passion for protecting the land was unmistakable. Doug shared the natural history of the area, and the reasoning for developing the area for the community.

Centre Supervisor, Jean Funk, shared the evolution of the Wilderness Centre. Having worked at the centre for many years, Jean knows the important function it provides for Strathcona County’s residents.
