In 2023, Lindisfarne Productions had the opportunity to produce new occupation profile videos for the Government of Alberta alis initiative.
For years, the alis.alberta.ca website has been assisting Albertans in finding careers that suit their skills, personalities, and life goals. They do so by offering practical information and occupation videos for over 575 occupations. Each occupational profile provides information like educational requirements, salary ranges, day to day duties, responsibilities, and working conditions.
For this year’s occupation profile videos we filmed across the province. Every year we get to speak to unique and interesting Albertans and learn about exciting and innovative careers. This year was no different!
Some of the occupations we covered this year include:
Ecologist profile video
Ecologists study the interactions between living things and their environment. They also study how interactions between ecosystems, species, and their environment influence the natural world. They may interpret and monitor ecosystems for science, policy, and land-management purposes.
Court Reporter profile video
Captioners and court reporters write machine shorthand at a minimum speed of 225 words per minute to capture every word spoken. Computer technology instantly translates shorthand notes into English text that can be displayed or printed.
Arborist profile video
Arborists plant and maintain trees. They also treat or remove injured, diseased, and unsafe trees. Most arborists specialize in a certain type of tree care like pruning, planting, or tree health. Their duties depend on their specialty and employer.
Marriage & Family Counselor profile video
Marriage and family counsellors provide counselling to families, couples, and individuals. They strive to help clients resolve interpersonal difficulties, develop effective and satisfactory relationships, and build meaningful support systems.
Child & Youth Care Worker profile video
Child and youth care workers strive to improve the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of vulnerable children, youth and families.
