In 2025, Lindisfarne Productions had the opportunity to produce new occupation education videos for the Government of Alberta’s alis initiative.
alis.alberta.ca is a well-known and well-used resource, provided by the Government of Alberta, that educates Albertans about career opportunities in the province. The website provides hundreds of occupational profiles, including information about duties and responsibilities, educational requirements, salary expectations, and skills required for jobs in various industries. Each profile includes an education video, including a real Albertan who works in the field.
Producing education videos for alis is like going on field trips for the Lindisfarne team! We get to speak to real Albertans, and learn what they do, how they do it, and why they love their jobs. This year, we covered some fascinating occupations, including:
Interior designers create and enhance interior spaces, making sure they are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and focused on quality of life and safety.
Veterinarians diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries in animals. They perform animal surgery and dentistry. They also provide preventive medical services. They offer advice about the care and breeding of animals. Veterinarians also conduct and present research to advance animal health and welfare, and public health.
Occupational therapists help people experiencing challenges due to injury, physical or mental illness, disability, a change in function, or barriers in the social and physical environment. They help patients improve their quality of life by helping them participate in everyday activities.
Secondary school teachers provide instruction to young people in Grades 7 to 12. They can be generalists, or specialize in subject areas like physical education, art, or sciences.
Optometrists assess, diagnose, treat, and correct disorders and diseases of the human eye.
Nail technicians clean, shape, extend, and polish clients’ fingernails and toenails.
