Picture A Farmer Documentary Premiere

On July 20th, we had a great turnout for the premiere of our short documentary: Picture A Farmer!

Picture A Farmer follows three female farmers in Alberta. The documentary challenges the conventional perceptions of women’s roles on the farm. Each of our participants show us what it means to take ownership of the title of Farmer. The film highlights the important role of women in agriculture and the need to foster representation for future generations.

We gathered at the Garneau Cinema in Edmonton. We watched eagerly asĀ  Sue Manyluk, Lynn Dargis, and Kristin Graves showed what it takes to be a farmer in Alberta.

After the screening we had the opportunity to speak to Sue, Lynn, and Kristin in a short Q&A session. The audience had many great questions for our stars. We were able to hear more of their thoughts on the agriculture industry, the role of women that industry, and of course… what it was like to have a camera follow them around while they were hard at work.

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful people who came out to the premiere screening, shared in some popcorn, asked questions, and showed their support for a small independent documentary!

Also a huge thank you to our funders. We couldn’t have made this project without the generous support of Telus Storyhive, The Government of Alberta- Alberta Media Fund, and the Government of Canada.
