Responsible Hospitality Edmonton Safety Videos

What are you doing at midnight on a Friday night? Lindisfarne‘s Video Production team got a police-escorted tour of Edmonton’s nightlife and learned what the city is doing to make for a safe night out. This footage was compiled into safety videos for Responsible Hospitality Edmonton.

Responsible Hospitality Edmonton was established to focus on the promotion of a safe and vibrant late night environment. RHE’s focus is on vibrancy, quality of life, venue and public safety, late night transportation, patron responsibility, and community policing.

RHE is comprised of two programs: Street-as-a-Venue Program and The Public Safety Compliance Team (PSCT).

The PCST is a multi-agency enforcement arm of Responsibility Hospitality Edmonton and requires collaboration from departments across the city.

“We’re not working under silos anymore. We are collaborating,” says team member, Sgt. Jacob Montgomery. “The PSCT is an integrated team that includes the Edmonton Police service, Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services and the City of Edmonton Community Standards Branch.”

The team conducts surprise inspections at liquor-licensed establishments throughout Edmonton. They are looking to ensure that various city bylaws are being abided by and to create a safer nightlife for everyone.

“This program is a huge benefit for the public,” says Montgomery, “We’re out there on a regular basis, working with the venues, to ensure that they’re maintaining the best business practices and ensure they are providing Edmontonians with the safest night out that they possibly can.”
