This August, Alberta Tourism asked us to leave our (chilly) air-conditioned office and spend a few days exploring Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park to gather beauty shots for their stock footage collection. We had no idea what spectacular scenery awaited us!
Our crew slapped on the sunscreen and we met up with our talented Edmonton photographer friend Curtis Comeau. We spent the first day at Marten River Campground to capture camping scenes with our awesome model family. A few hotdogs, burgers and gummy worms later, it was time to toast the marshmallows! (Even without the luxury of an axe, Weyme makes a mean fire.)
Day two was spent at the beach! (What a shame!) Devonshire Beach was spectacular. The sun was shining, the sand was warm on our feet and the lake was truly mesmerizing! (It’s almost hard to believe it is named ‘Lesser’ Slave Lake.) Measuring over 100 kilometers long, it is the second largest lake in Alberta.
If you’re looking for a great place to take a summer break, take our word on it; Slave Lake is a hidden gem in Northern Alberta!
