OAPD Annual Report – Accessible Video

Our team at Lindisfarne Productions was asked to create an accessible video for the Office of the Advocate for Persons with Disabilities in Alberta‘s (OAPD) 2019-2020 Annual report.

The Office of the Advocate for Persons with Disabilities was created in 2018 to help represents the rights, interests, and well-being of Albertans with disabilities. The Office helps children, youth, adults and seniors with disabilities find and get access to the supports and services available to them, and acts as a point of contact between the community and government.

Tony Flores is the first Advocate for Persons with Disabilities in Alberta. Tony joined us in studio to summarize the annual report. The Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Act mandates that the Advocate prepare and submit to the Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services a report summarizing the activities for the previous calendar year. The goal of the report is to provide Albertans with an update on the impact the OAPD office made in 2019-2020.

This informative video was captured in studio, in front of a white screen and with the use of a teleprompter. Broll was composed of high-res stock footage, report graphics, and OAPD event photos.

It was important for us to create a video that is accessible to all, in order to reflect the work of the OAPD. Our crew filmed with a sign language interpreter and included the translation throughout the video. In addition, subtitles were included in the edit to ensure further understanding for the hearing impaired.

It was a pleasure for our crew to hear about all of the work of the OAPD office. Plus, it was also a great opportunity for our team to learn more about the importance of accessibility in video production.
