SafeGen recently approached our team at Lindisfarne Productions to help create a series of workplace safety videos aimed at high school students in Alberta. These videos are to be viewed in high school classes across the province as a part of Career and Life Management programs of study.
SafeGen (formerly known as Job Safety Skills Society) offers accredited workplaces safety programming for youth aged 15-24 in Alberta. The goal of SafeGen is to “empower youth to be responsible workers for the benefit of themselves and their communities through job-safe education resulting in zero workplace injuries.”
SafeGen’s JobSafe™ Program provides students the opportunity to acquire fundamental knowledge of workplace health and safety principles and practices, and to be assessed on their ability to apply safety knowledge in a variety of situations — including workplaces, at school and at home.
Additional courses include: Mental Health in the Workplace and Agriculture Safety. SafeGen programming is available for free to junior and senior high school students in Alberta.
SafeGen asked Lindisfarne to create a series of workplace safety videos to supplement their online training. Each video would look at a different aspect of workplace safety to accompany the online course material. Topics included: hazardous materials, ladder safety, workplace bullying, and employment standards.
We hired some up-and-coming Edmonton actors to help us recreate various scenarios young employees may encounter while on the job. Our talent did a great job highlighting realistic scenarios that new employees may encounter.
As a crew, safety is always of utmost importance. Our team had lots of fun with these creative scripts and appreciate being a part of educating young workers!
