Ready… Set… SEW! – Kingsway Mall’s Ready to Shine Student Fashion Show

Lindisfarne’s video production team worked with Kingsway Mall & the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation to create an event video for Kingsway Mall’s Ready to Shine Student Fashion Show 2013!

Lindisfarne’s Alberta based video production team followed Kingsway’s dynamic duo, John Chwyl and Sandra Woitas, to help bring the third annual Ready to Shine Student Fashion Show to life on April 25, 2013.

The Ready to Shine design challenge is a fundraising partnership between Kingsway Mall and the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation. All money raised is donated to helping the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation fund Kindergarten programs in underprivileged areas throughout the city.

This year, the Ready to Shine event invited seven Edmonton Public Schools to participate in its creative fashion show. The Fashion and Design Studies classes at each school formed teams to create three different pieces: a recycled shirt made from clothing from Goodwill, a top and an evening gown! These looks were then modeled on the catwalk at Kingsway Mall on April 25th by local media celebrities and high school students.

In preparation for the event, Lindisfarne followed Chwyl and Woitas as they visited the seven schools participating in the creative fashion show to see what they were planning to send out onto the runway.

In its third year running, the Ready to Shine Student Fashion Show raised almost $27,000 for its cause— an astonishing and heartwarming number! Way to go, Edmonton! Check out what all the fuss was about!
